Recently Hughes.net has been significantly degraded during peak hours. We are talking about speeds reduced to 90kbps or 10KBps download speeds. That is slower than dial up! Previously this slow down was only about 40 to 60%. That equates to about 40KBps download speeds. I was willing to deal with that. However a 90% reduction in speed is unacceptable. I will be canceling my service as soon as I am able to find a more reliable service.
AT THIS TIME I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND HUGHES SATELLITE!!! |

Meh. Yea. I'm still planning on getting Hughesnet in about a month though. It's THE ONLY thing I can get besides dial-up. And well, my dial-up is going at around 19k connection speeds. Once in a while if I'm lucky it will jump to 37k. Almost never happens though. But even 10Kbps is faster then dial-up. Even at the best of the best dial-up connection (52k), the best download speed you can get is 6kbps.
But yea. Funny thing is I used to get 49k connection speeds for years. But now for about a year I've had these horrible connection speeds. So at this point I'm so fed up with dial-up that I'm willing to go with ANYTHING else. Even if it means paying all that money just to get it set up. |
