Dial-Up Internet

Dial-up internet access is available for subscribers through a home or office telephone line. The connection is achieved by hooking up to a modem connected to a telephone line to establish a modem-to-modem link.

  • Ties up the telephone line while connected to the internet

  • Can be expensive if long distance charges are incurred
  • Only “on” when you dial up
  • Time limits for accessibility
  • Very slow upload and download speeds
